Job Description
Seeking a Quality Manager with foundry or casting experience for a solid Manufacturing client of ours.  

Responsible for supervising staff and maintaining quality control processes, analyzing the results and giving feedback and guidance to the production team under the direct supervision of the Quality Control Director.  Must ensure and assist in determining if materials, product, and/or processes are in accordance with specifications. Ensure the staff follows the set processes and adheres to best production practices and product quality standards.

Job Duties:
  • Collect and analyze production samples to evaluate quality.
  • Interpret blueprints for the purpose of establishing customers’ critical needs and how they should be measured.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods or stability samples.
  • Perform the quality inspection process of new part samples and record the data.
  • Check dimensions and surface quality of random batches of finished products to ensure they meet all company quality standards.
  • Inspect all product returns, analyze the defect, and document the findings.
  • Verify all processes are conforming to established quality standards and required customer specifications.
  • Carries out ongoing lab and field sampling. Auditing visual, dimensional, and mechanical tests of materials and processes.
  • Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on appropriateness of data for release.
  • Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms.
  • Investigate customer complaints regarding quality issues and develop a solution.
  • Record, compile, and prepare reports for analysis and evaluation.
  • Assist in the development of needed records and standards and maintain accurate and detailed files as required.
  • Responsible for departmental safety and housekeeping.
  • Instruct the method of disposition of discrepant material.
  • Assist in designing and implementing the procedure for the use of Statistical Process Control across all departments as required.
  • Assist with auditing, writing, revising and verifying quality standards and developing forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality data.
  • Assist departments in identifying and drafting manufacturing procedures for AS9100 procedures.
  • Analyze quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management or staff.
  • Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
  • Document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Monitor performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors.
  • Instruct staff in quality control and analytical procedures.
  • Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, or quality trends.
  • Participate in the development of product specifications.
  • Identify critical points in the manufacturing process and specify sampling procedures to be used at these points.
  • Use quality reports, graphs and charts prepared and maintained daily by the staff for problem solving and decision making.
  • Implement quality control training programs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or Quality strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role as a Quality Manager or Engineering Manager in a manufacturing environment with metal, machining, fabrication, or similar industry.
  • Must have experience with foundry or casting  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster and promote a positive work environment.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
